Work in Spain & Soak up the Culture
If when choosing a career in Spain it is world-class culture you are in search of, look no further than the Costa del Sol. With Malaga at its helm - the city is a candidate for European Capital of Culture in 2016 - the Costa del Sol offers a wide choice of cultural events. Music tops the bill and caters for all tastes from classical with the Malaga Symphonic Orchestra concert season to jazz - jazz buffs should not miss the annual Malaga Jazz Festival in November and Marbella's Jazz Festival in June. The summer Terral Festival in Malaga attracts world-famous stars with Lou Reed, Herbie Hancock and The Magnetic Fields just some of those performing in 2008. Elsewhere on the Costa del Sol, 2008 summer concerts include Julio Iglesias and Simply Red in Marbella - tempting leisure options while working in Spain.
Recruitment overseas on the Costa del Sol also offers a good selection of the performing arts - the Cervantes Theatre in Malaga has a theatre, opera and music programme - and there is also the annual Festival of Spanish cinema in Malaga. Nerja Caves celebrate their renowned Festival of Music and Dance in June and July. Malaga is an important destination on many artists' tours, for example, the Cirque du Soleil (a regular visitor), Disney on Ice and the Chinese National Circus. The Costa del Sol has numerous cinemas and several show films in English (Gran Marbella cinema in Puerto Banus, Miramar in Fuengirola and Plaza Mayor in Malaga).
Known as the capital of Southern Europe, Malaga is also a main art centre. The birthplace of Picasso, Malaga boasts the highly-acclaimed Picasso Museum as well as the Picasso Foundation. The Centre of Contemporary Art is home to a permanent collection of 400 contemporary art works and the Thyssen-Bornemiza Museum, set to house unique paintings by Spanish and Andalucian artists, opens in the near future.
With a cultural calendar to rival that in many European capitals, the Costa del Sol is an ideal location for working abroad.
