Work - and Play - in Spain

Keeping fit while working abroad is essential and the Costa del Sol's magnificent climate lends itself ideally to outdoor activities and the choice of sports activities is enormous. Golf fiends looking at recruitment in Spain are perhaps the best catered for - the Costa del Sol boasts over 60 golf courses, some of which are world-famous such as Valderrama at Sotogrande. With many courses offering driving ranges and golf tuition, why not learn to play golf while you work in Spain?

Water sports enthusiasts are also spoilt for choice. Whether you are into jet-skiing, sailing, kite-surfing, scuba-diving or kayaking, the Mediterranean awaits you. The Costa del Sol has several marinas, including perhaps its most famous Puerto Banus, the ultimate in yachting luxury. Strolling round Banus and soaking up a bit of reflected fame from the hundreds of moored powerboats and yachts is high on a must-do list of Costa del Sol activities.

Racket sports are also popular and there are plenty of tennis clubs along the Costa del Sol, ranging from the exclusive Manolo Santana Racquets Club to the more-down to earth municipal clubs where membership fees and court hire are reasonably priced.

If you are a snowboarder or skier and in search of snow while working in Spain, you might perhaps be surprised to discover that the Costa del Sol is within 2 hours' drive of Europe's southern-most ski resort in Sierra Nevada. Sierra Nevada's perpetually snow-covered peaks offer 86km of runs catering for all abilities (there are 5 black runs) and the season usually runs from December to April, although the resort is open year-round. Information is available on http://www.sierranevadaski.com/.

For outdoor lovers, recruitment abroad on the Costa del Sol is within a short drive of some of southern Spain's most spectacular scenery, perfect for walking and hiking, or for the more adventurous, climbing and mountaineering. Several natural parks are nearby including the stunning Sierra de las Nieves, situated to the north of Marbella and the beautiful Parque de los Alcornocales, to the west.

With such a wide range of sporting facilities and outdoor activities on offer for those with a job in Spain, the Costa del Sol provides excellent leisure options giving you the chance to work hard and play hard.
